Jaz Sealey - Dance Faculty

Jaz is excited and honoured to come back home to Winnipeg and to teach at the Broadway Dance Convention! This is the city where he caught the musical theatre bug. After playing hockey for 10 years, Jaz shifted his focus to theatre at Grant Park High School. Alongside his training at school, he spent many years at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet taking every style that they offered. Rainbow Stage is where Jaz had his first taste of a professional theatre in Big, the Musical then onto Joseph..., The King & IBeauty & the Beast and The Wizard of Oz all at Camp Rainbow. While still in Winnipeg, Jaz performed in She Loves Me (DryCold) and Guys & Dolls (MTC, Theatre Calgary, Citadel). After leaving Winnipeg, Jaz has had the opportunity to work at many Canadian theatres including Drayton, Theatre Aquarius, the Charlottetown Festival, Neptune Theatre, The Grand Theatre, Port Hope, Stage West and the Ross Petty Panto. Jaz made his Toronto debut in the North American premiere of Dirty Dancing. Following that he played 2 seasons and 5 shows at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. One of those shows was Jesus Christ Superstar which went onto the La Jolla Playhouse and finally onto Broadway for his debut in New York. Jaz was also a part of the World Premiere of Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots at the La Jolla Playhouse. Since 2013, Jaz has been a part of the Original Broadway Company of Aladdin which also included originating the North American Tour before returning to the Broadway cast where he can currently be seen 8 shows a week. Jaz couldn’t be more thrilled to be able to bring some of what he’s learned from his time away from Winnipeg back to the next generation of young artists.
